Top Things To Take With You On Your Pet Staycation

It’s the best time of the year – Spring to Summer. The sun is shining (most of the time), the days are longer, and it’s time for you to set up your Out of Office!

If you’re planning a staycation this year, it’s always great when even our furrier members of the family can join too and although it’s a lot of fun to take your dog with you on holiday, you must make sure you’re well-packed and prepared. So here are our top essentials for you to take on your next pet vacation:

1) Health & Safety 💊

Of course, we have to start with the most important category – Health and Safety. We don’t want our pals falling ill or getting lost whilst we’re away, so make sure your dog’s suitcase includes these items.
  • Name/ID Tags
  • Collars
  • Harness
  • Both Short and Long Leashes
  • Travel carrier, seat belt or car hammock
  • Any Medication and First Aid
  • Pet Insurance!
  • Sunscreen
  • Cooling Mat – read more of our summer safety tips for dogs
  • Brush/Comb
  • Tweezers
  • Soap, Shampoo – general cleaning
  • Poop bags – the more the merrier
P.S – Are they microchipped? This is now required in the UK

2) Comfort 🐶

Comfort is also essential; our pets deserve all the cosy feels! Aim to make the staycation as familiar as possible, with a few of their items from home, to minimise any distress:
  • Beds, Baskets and Blankets
  • Fluffy towels
  • Any beloved stuffed toys

3) Food and Treats 🦴

What’s a holiday without good food and a few treats? Make sure to bring some food and water along for your pets, both for the journey to and from your stay, and for the length of your trip:

  • Food & treats – lots of treats!
  • Travelling water bottle + Fresh water for the journey
  • Food and Water bowls
  • Chew bones

4) Fun 🥎

Last, but certainly not least, all the fun added extras!

  • Their favourite toys
  • Tennis balls
  • List of local walking trails

That’s it from us, we hope we were able to remind you of a few more things for your packing list that might just have slipped your mind!
